If you’ve managed to wreck your screen so bad that it’s not working at all anymore, you’re in for a bit of trouble. If you connect an iPhone / iPad that’s locked to a computer and try to back it up with iTunes, iTunes is likely to ask you to enter the pass code to unlock your device. In such a situation, there’s no real remedy that is known to work every time. There are however a few things that you can try like connecting your device to the computer you last synced with, and there’s a chance it will backup without pass code unlock. Another option would be to try 3rd party software like Wondershare Dr. Fone. While this software has been known to work for some, it doesn’t have a 100% success rate either.

You haven’t purchase AppleCare and go to Apple for Repair: Though you knew phone screens break all the time, but like everybody else, you thought it wouldn’t happen to you, and you decided not to invest in AppleCare. Well, you pretty much have yourself to blame and should get ready to shell out some major money for screen replacement. The process here is pretty similar, where you take your device to the nearest Apple Authorized Service center for screen replacement, and they quote an astronomical price for replacement, which gives you a second jolt in only so many hours. However, this is easily avoidable as described below.

There’s also the DIY route which you can take by trying to purchase parts and do the replacement yourself, but we strongly suggest avoiding that not only because it’s extremely dangerous (to the point of being life threatening) to be opening up your iPhone / iPad and exposing yourself to the Li-Ion battery, but also because you’ll probably end up bricking your device, which is much worse than having to pay a large amount but still being able to salvage it!
